Define the search before running it
Choose the problems you want to solve, the level and scope you can credibly pursue, and the conditions that matter for fit. Separate essentials from preferences so you can evaluate opportunities consistently.
This focus also makes networking easier. People can recognize a useful introduction when they understand the direction.
Operate in weekly cycles
Plan a realistic mix of relationship-building, targeted outreach, research, applications, interview preparation, and follow-up. Protect time for activities that create conversations rather than allowing applications to consume the entire week.
Review outcomes every week. Keep what is working, investigate where momentum slows, and make changes based on patterns rather than emotion.
